I'm looking for a team for the upcoming season. I started as left OT and guard in high school football, but haven't been involved in any leagues (touch or contact) since I graduated 8 years ago.
I won't lie about my abilities; you'll probably find more skilled people. I'm just looking for a way to meet some new people and stay active outside of the gym, so any semi- or non-competitive recreational men's team would be fine.

We put up 28 points, probably about our average for the year. A team shouldn't need to score 40 points to win a game. TSF won the first half, and that carried their team. TSF and Bulldogs gave us some great games this year and we split down the middle with both. 306 is a strong team, and Darkness was impressive, they just need some seasoning. We are probably in our last 2-3 years of existence (knees willing), and having run a team for 22 years, am not looking forward to the time where I have to call it a rec football career. I enjoy the bullshit and competitive nature of the league. The young teams are strong, and us old guys hang on as long as we can. I look forward to a tough game on Friday, and the only upside of losing is that one team won't have to start in A next year. Game On!!!!
TSF 85 - posted: 09/23/2009I've gotta say that this has been one of the best years of STFL I've been a part of. All of the B teams have been great to play against. There has been very little BS and a lot less bitching and complaining at the refs, at least in the games I've been a part of. Most of that is probably due to me trying to keep my mouth shut as best I could. Just about every game we've played has been competitive. Any B team was able to beat any other B team on any given night. No B team has completely dominated the division, and from looking at the rest of the league, it appears to be the same in MOST cases. Congrats to the people running the STFL for getting it done right.
Corey, trust me when I say we know we haven't won yet and we know you guys are going to give us a great game. I'm just happy to be in the B finals.
As for the QB thing. We have a young QB who is only in his second full season as a QB. I think he's doing a terrific job and we are lucky to have him. To all those critics out there, try being a quarterback for a season or two and then criticize. It is not easy... trust me. I've thrown the ball in both A and B and there is a huge difference between the two. The QB's in A are awesome, that's why they are in A. Hirsh#7 - posted: 09/20/2009I would like to say that this site, while it looks good, has lost the fun and daily drama of a forum, where one can pretend to be an expert on something like rec touch football. I would like to say that the decision to go to 4 divisions was excellent, and that the B division this year was as competitive as ever.
The league faces a problem, having 3 elite teams in the city. Not to say that the bottom 3 can't hang in there for awhile each game, but that I could have predicted the top 3 in May.
I think I speak for all B teams, and probably a few in A that don't find it a lot of fun to get trampled by the top 3 teams, 3-4 times a season. The Donkeys a very good B team, like us last season, stuggled all year in A and they probably didn't have a lot of fun. The league may have to go to a schedule that has the bottom A teams play the top B teasm, once during the season to keep interest up, or else go to 3 swaps during the year....
My 2 cents...

It never crosses our minds, because we realize that we’re playing rec touch football. The scouts aren’t watching.
Competition is great, everybody plays hard, but come on…when a guy starts actually talking about himself as “elite” or “top 5”, that’s just weird. How can you call yourself “elite” in men’s rec touch football?
I’m not in any way criticizing the QB discussion – it’s an entertaining debate to compare other guys in the league. But, I do respectfully disagree with the comment that most of us even spend a moment thinking of ourselves as elite. That’s the kind of ego-centric personal approach that ends up leading the league in unsportsmanlike penalties, pissed-off teammates, and lost perspective.
A – Potatoes, B – Darkness, C- Rockets (if they’re playing?), D – Tropic Thunder
Anyway, I agree that we need a forum next year. Things like rankings, predictions, and some quality trash talk is obviously good for some added fun and interest in the league. How else would a “Find a Player” posting board somehow become an underground discussion location?

B Division Fortune Teller - posted: 09/12/2009Playoffs startin' this week acroos the league, B division is no doubt the tightest division with the most parity from top to bottom. Here's how I predict the outcome...
Round 1 puts the 306 KREW who came down from A division as the 3rd seed taking on 6th seed Navy who came up from C. Don't count Navy out of this one, they are playing stronger as season goes on, and with the experience of their QB I expect a close one. Navy 18- 306 Krew 14
The other round 1 match up puts two unpredictable teams up against eachother. 4th seed TSF has plenty of athletes and 5th seed Bulldogs do aswell. Bulldogs without a doubt have the more talented roster but both teams can easily self-destruct. Both are lead by sub-par QB's, whichever one's team is behind him will win. Bulldogs 32- TSF 24
Round two will bring out the two elite B teams, The Darkness and Untouchables. Both are very talented but definately not unbeatable. Untouchables have lost some close ones and one some close ones, most importantly they handled the other top teams well, however they did lose a couple easy ones late in the game. Lead by the leagues best QB they will win if he distributes amongst the leagues most potent offence instead of becoming to reliant on his league leading scorer. The Darkness also have a very talented Offence lead by another top scorer in the division and a solid scrambling QB. If these two make it through round 2 the Final will be intense!!!!
